It seems that there are many images in memory, most not really associated with a story. Some are not really memories that are all that old but memories that revealed other memories. For instance I spend my early grade school years in Ferrum, VA. I went to school, at first in the building on the hill, a two story brick school building that had been built to expand the school. That was the second grade. I do have memories for the building but no details of what happen. The next three years were in the old three room white frame building down the hill and closer to the highway from the other.
I had finished first grade and we moved to Ferrum. We were living in Goochland County, Virginia, which was about 30 minutes from Richmond. I have a few memories of Goochland. One strong memory was me, in the back yard, looking up at the vultures. I thought to myself that if I say very still, they would think I was dead and swoop down. I tried many times to do that but they were never fooled.
